Since 1 January 2022 Swiss residents can change their gender and first name through a declaration at the civil registry office, without medical assessment or surgical intervention.

Since 1 January 2022 Swiss residents can change their gender and first name through a declaration at the civil registry office, without medical assessment or surgical intervention. Minors need additional consent.
Clinical care
Gender care is provided in university hospitals (including Zurich, Bern, Lausanne and Geneva). Care is reimbursed by basic health insurance when a clinical indication is established.
