The Dutch state pension (AOW) age is sex-neutral.

State pension and pension age

The Dutch state pension (AOW) age is sex-neutral. A changed gender registration has no effect on it.

Occupational pension

Occupational pensions use sex-neutral calculations following equal-treatment legislation. Transition therefore does not change the level of accrued entitlements.

Partner pension

For partner pension the relationship status at the time of death applies. Transition by one of the partners does not affect the conditions for partner pension as long as the marriage remains intact.

Administrative points of attention

When the BSN (Dutch citizen service number) registration changes, communication with the pension fund is important so that benefits, payment details and correspondence proceed correctly.
