COIE — Council of Independent Experts

The Council on Information and Education (previously known under other names) is a collection of international clinicians and researchers critical of parts of the current international recommendations on youth gender care.

What is COIE

The Council on Information and Education (previously known under other names) is a collection of international clinicians and researchers critical of parts of the current international recommendations on youth gender care. Known affiliated organisations are SEGM (Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine) and EPATH members who spoke out independently.

Approach

The organisations publish commentary on guidelines, contribute to systematic reviews and feed their analyses into government reports such as the Cass Review.

Place in the debate

The role of these critics is contested within WPATH; at the same time, their work is increasingly recognised by national health authorities in the United Kingdom, Sweden and Finland.
