Who are the experts in the gender debate? Profiles of clinicians, researchers and organisations — including backgrounds and funding sources.

What is Genderexperts.nl?
Genderexperts is a reference guide for those who want to know which authorities have a voice in the gender debate. The site profiles clinicians, researchers and organisations cited as experts in Dutch and international media, and asks three central questions: what is their background, what research are they doing (or have they done), and who funds their work?
What is on it?
The site is built around three core themes:
- Analysis of expertise — who is cited by media and politics as an authority, what qualifications they have, which institutions they work at;
- Research integrity — which studies are cited, by whom they are funded, whether there are conflicts of interest, and where the scientific consensus really lies;
- Science vs. activism — when an expert speaks primarily from a clinical or research role, and when from an activist or advocacy perspective.
Profiles typically contain: education, current position(s), publications, funding sources, media appearances, and any board positions at advocacy organisations.
For whom?
For journalists wanting context with a citation; policymakers who want to weigh expertise; researchers who want to understand the structure of a field; and readers who, with every press release or opinion piece, want to know 'who is actually saying this?'
Tone and approach
Attention to funding sources and conflicts of interest. The site states that 'the line between science and activism in the gender debate is sometimes thin' and helps readers to sharpen that line. Source citation with every profile; the site retains the possibility of updating profiles when new information becomes available.
