About us

Genderinfo.nl is published by Stichting Genderinfo i.o. The platform provides critical information about gender, gender identity and gender care - without commercial interest and without ties to lobby groups or clinics.

Why this platform

Over the past fifteen years a dominant narrative has emerged in the Netherlands and elsewhere around gender identity and gender care: the so-called gender-affirmative model. That model assumes an inner, self-chosen gender identity which is leading, and places social and medical transition at the centre - including for children and adolescents.

That narrative is largely adopted by most Dutch media, professional associations and lobby groups, while the scientific underpinning turns out to be weak and is increasingly coming under fire internationally. The Cass Review (United Kingdom, 2024), the SBU report (Sweden) and the guidelines in Finland, Norway and Denmark show that Western countries are thoroughly revising their practice. In the Dutch public debate, that criticism remains underrepresented for now.

What we stand for

  • Factual information with respect for the real suffering of people with gender dysphoria.
  • Recognition that biological sex is binary and stable, and that 'gender identity' is a theoretical concept based on self-report.
  • Full informed consent: patients, parents and referrers deserve full information about uncertain outcomes, irreversible effects and the weak evidence base for early medical interventions.
  • Visibility for what is often missing from the mainstream discourse: detransition, desistance, ROGD and the criticism of the Dutch Protocol.
  • Attention to the broader social consequences: women's rights, child protection, sport, shelters and the position of homosexual young people.

For whom

This site is intended for patients and their loved ones, parents of children and young people with gender questions, professionals in healthcare and education, journalists and policy-makers - in short for anyone looking for information outside the activist frame, with proper source attribution.
