Family in Danger is a campaign run by Stichting Civitas Christiana, a Catholic organisation. The campaign was launched in 2018 by Hugo Bos. The site claims to defend the family against what it calls gender ideology and the sexualisation of children, doing so explicitly from a Christian perspective.
It is therefore an activist website with a clear ideological agenda, not a neutral news medium. The organisation says it has a following of approximately 70,000 people and receives no government subsidies.
What you can find there
The site regularly publishes articles organised around themes such as gender, the LGBT lobby, education, family, children, politics and homeschooling. It also features petitions, calls to take action, and information about street campaigns and brochures. The article archive goes back years and is still being updated.
Origins and first campaign
The first campaign in 2018 targeted an advertising campaign by clothing brand SuitSupply, which the organisation considered sexually suggestive. According to the site itself, the campaign dominated the national news for days. This was followed by a campaign against what the organisation calls the fiscal punishment of single-earner households, as well as petitions opposing sex education in schools, which it describes as indoctrination. The campaign says it is funded entirely by donations, whether one-off or monthly, and also distributes its messages via Facebook, X, Telegram and YouTube.
Current petitions and issues
In October 2026, the site listed four petitions. A petition to the Minister of Education calling for Purple Friday to be stopped had more than 6,600 signatories, a petition opposing education by COC nearly 16,000, one against surrogacy nearly 10,000, and one concerning the protection of children from pornography nearly 12,000. Videos on the site show that the organisation also campaigned against the conversion law, collecting, according to its own account, 12,000 signatures. Recent articles discuss Purple Friday in kindergarten and school textbooks. How young people themselves view Purple Friday is shown by a 2026 study by the University of Amsterdam. The main focus is therefore on education and parenting, topics covered on this site under young people. The campaign's views are diametrically opposed to those of organisations such as COC; background information on the legislation can be found under legal.
Why it is included in this archive
The campaign is a visible player in the Dutch public debate, particularly concerning schools and education. Anyone following developments in the Netherlands will encounter the name regularly. The site shows how the religiously conservative side of the public debate articulates its objections. A brief description of the campaign can also be found in the source overview of genderhub.nl.
