What is Genderongemak.nl?

Genderongemak addresses the discomfort many people experience around contemporary gender issues, but do not voice — out of fear of reputational damage, out of politeness, or simply because they lack the words. The core message: 'doubt is not hate, discomfort is not intolerance'.

What is on it?

The site addresses eight themes where people get stuck or prefer to keep quiet:

  • Pronouns and language — what to say when someone pushes, what your rights are;
  • Teaching material at school — what your child gets, what you may ask, what you do if you disagree;
  • Medical interventions in children — the state of affairs, the concerns, how to talk about it;
  • Women's sport and single-sex spaces — what is happening, how you relate to the discussion;
  • Workplace pressure — DEI trainings, pronoun requirements, what your limits are;
  • Friendship and family — what to say to a loved one who is transitioning;
  • Polls — SCP and Ipsos figures on how widely discomfort is felt;
  • Anonymised personal stories — what others experienced and how they dealt with it.
